mince pie race report and results

Despite the rain of the last few weeks, and a heavy downpour on the morning, the race started in bright sunshine, albeit with a freezing cold wind wafting up the edges of your lycra. Of course, this being the Mince Pie, there was more than enough mud to go round, so no-one was made to feel left out. Rather disappointingly the farmer had removed the psychotic bull that was threatening to make the course even more entertaining for the runners in the middle stages, but we like to think some of the puddles halped make up for the loss. Once again a lot of entries on the day helped push up the numbers with a total entry of 317, with 247 finishers.

First man home was Lewes lovely, Robbie James, of Lewes AC in 59:22, (which, given that the course had to be extended for the new sewage works was a remarkable time in the conditions). He was followed by David Bradford, Louis Taub, Matt Bradford and Mats Gedin. For the women, first across the line was Hailsham Harrier Fiona Bugler in 75:46, followed by last year's winner Emma Richards, then Gayle Hussey, Jessica Gunn and Claire Steward.
As usual the team prize for the largest team went to Dulwich Runners who picked up another Christmas cake, before heading off to Brighton for their usual Xmas knees up.

SEAFORD STRIDERS would like to thank everyone, both regulars and new faces, for supporting the race and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.
