RULES OF THE SUSSEX CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE
Amended September 2008
1. The Sussex Cross Country League is open to all 1st claim and bone fide 2nd claim members of the clubs affiliated to the Sussex County Amateur Athletic Association. Runners must ran for their 1st claim Club if that Club is affiliated to the Sussex AAA.
2. The League is conducted in accordance with the rales of UK Athletics.
3. All competitors must ran in the club colours.
4. Guest runners may be allowed to ran at the discretion of the League Secretary.
5. Before each race competitors must pay the entry fee decided by the Sussex AAA Executive before the start of the season.
6. Four fixtures will be held during the season.
7. Individual awards will be based on the aggregate of the lowest three scores from the four races. Awards will be presented to the first three in each age group.
8. Team awards will be based on the aggregate of all four races. Any athlete who has scored for his or her team in at least one fixture will be awarded the relevant medal.
9. Under 20 Men will score as seniors in the team results. Under 20 and Veteran Women will also score as Seniors in team results.
10.Three to score in Under 13,15, and 17 male and female. Senior Women Division 1 four to score. Division 2 three to score. Senior Men Division 1 six to score. Divisions 2 and 3 four to score. Veteran Men three to score.
11. Incomplete teams will be • made up by awarding a score of the last finisher plus 10 points for each non-runner.

Change of timetable for race on 20th February 2010 to allow for the presentation of awards.
U15 Boys & Girls and U17 Mens presentations will be at 14.30pm. As a result, the U20, Senior and Veteran Men's race will be at 14.45pm. Presentations for all U17, U20, Senior and Veteran Women will be at 15.45pm. Presentations for U20, Senior and Veteran Men will be at 16.00pm
IMPORTANT NOTE for Under 13 Boys and Girls: due to the schools Southern Inter-Counties being held on 28th February the Under 13 Awards will be based on the results of the first 3 races – individuals best 2 out of 3: and aggregate of all 3 for the teams. Presentations will be made on 10th January at 1.45pm
There will be non-scoring races for Under 13 Boys and Girls on 28th February at the usual times.
RULE CHANGE from 2008-2009: under 17 women can choose to score in their club’s senior team but must inform the organisers before their first race. They will still be eligible for under 17 individual awards.
NOTES
1. Entry Fee:
a. £3.00 - U20, Senior, Veteran.
b. £2.00 - U13, U15, U17.
2. All competitors must be 11 years old or over on the day.
3. Age groups. As on 31st August 2009. Veterans as age on the day of race.
4. All Junior, Senior, Veteran Women and Men must declare age groups when entering, i.e. U20, Senior, V40, V50, V60 for Men, and U20, Senior, V35, V45, V55 for Women
5. For individual awards (except under 13) the best three results will count. Individual medals will be awarded to the first three in all groups, including all three Veteran categories, male and female.
6. Team Awards for all age groups will be based on the aggregate of all four races.
All Juniors U13, U15, U17 three to score.
Senior Women (includes U20 and Veterans). There will be two divisions this season.
Division 1 (four to score) comprising Arena 80,Brighton & H, Phoenix, Hastings, Arena 80 ‘B’, Hailsham plus Chichester and Crawley promoted from Division 2.
Division 2 (three to score) all other teams including other B and C teams.
Senior Men. There will be three divisions this season.
Division 1 (six to score) – Brighton & H, Crawley, Phoenix , Hastings, Hailsham, Chichester plus Eastbourne and Worthing promoted from Division 2.
Division 2 (four to score) Brighton “B”, Seaford, Arena 80, Phoenix ‘B’, Crawley ‘B’, East Grinstead plus Lewes and Haywards Heath promoted from Division 3.
Division 3 (four to score) all other teams including other ‘B’ and ‘C’ teams.
Mens Veteran League. Teams will be three to score. Veterans can score in Senior and Veteran teams.
7. Club colours must be worn by all competitors.
8. 2nd claim athletes may run and score both as individuals and in team events.
9. Incomplete teams - the position of the last runner in each race + 10 points will be added.
10. RESULTS: Results will be posted on the Sussex County athletics website. Anyone who wants their own copy should leave a SAE for each race indicating age groups they require ( A5 is best )
