Joshua Rudd steamed ahead to win Eastbourne parkrun in 17 minutes 43 seconds on July 7.

The parkrun was included as part of Seaford Striders’ Club Grand Prix competition with Striders competing against each other to win points.

Thirty Striders competed in the race. Joshua was followed by Dave Dunstall who achieved a new course personal best (PB) in 18:36 and achieving 7th place overall and Jeff Young in eighth (18:53). Next was Damian Partridge in 19:59, followed by Joe Plant in 20:15.

First for the ladies was Anneka Redley, who was fourth lady home overall, completing the distance in 22:41 and achieving a new PB. Kristiane Sherry was next home for the Striders, coming in 7th overall in the ladies’ race and another new PB of 23:13. Next in were Simon Nixon with a new PB of 25:58, closely followed by Emma Cooper in 26:01 and Simon Homer in 26:56.

There was a strong showing again from the Striders’ ladies, bolstered by new runners completing and progressing to races from the Club’s successful Couch to 5k initiatives. Couch to 5k co-ordinator Hilary Humphreys finished in 27:07, followed by Michelle Varndell in 28:34. Next was Julie Taylor (30:12), Debbie Plant (30:38), Caroline Swinden (31:54) and Victoria Maleski (32:58).

Stacey Jones finished in 33:09 alongside her daughter, Kacia, Becky Soussi achieved a new PB of 33:18, just ahead of Rob Plant (33:19). Sandra Standen finished in 33:57 ahead of Alice Lennie (35:31), Sharon Plank with a new PB of 37:03 and Tara Holmes-Ling (37:06).

Then came Amanda Macgowan, just ahead of Kayleigh Spencer (38:38), Fawzia Whittuck (39:38), Alex Morris (39:45), Claire Sayers (45:22) and finally Sue Wallis in 45:24.
