The annual Mince Pie Ten is our own local race which is held every December to raise funds both for local charities and the club itself. The 2015 race was extremely successful, and, though we had a couple of issues at the finishing line, these will be rectified in time for this year’s race.
The 2015 race raised £2,000 for the race charity – SERV SUSSEX. This charity is
run by volunteers and provides a free night time service, 365 days of the year for
NHS hospitals across Sussex. SERV transports blood products, patient notes and
other urgent consignments between hospitals, eliminating costly transport bills and
allowing hospitals to focus their resources on patient care. 3 to 4 volunteers are on call every evening, using their own vehicles, but SERV also have a fleet of marked bikes and cars that have been funded by charitable donations. However these vehicles will soon need replacing and so a major fundraising campaign is under way to raise £25,000.
The race is a very popular multi-terrain event which is contested over a challenging ten mile course, and sees many entrants returning year after year for a pre Xmas work-out!
Voted one of the UK’s top ten races in Runner’s World Magazine
