On Wednesday 9 August Seaford Striders took part in the Herstmonceux Castle Relays.
The event is hosted by local running club Hailsham Harriers and is held in the beautiful grounds of Herstmonceux Castle. A team consists of 4 runners each completing a 2.2km trail and road loop as part of a relay. The conditions were perfect – a clear, calm evening with the event commencing at 7pm as the sun began to set.
Seaford Striders fielded 4 teams on the night which consisted of two men’s team, a ladies’ team and a mixed team. Running on the night were: Jeff Young, Josh Nisbett, James Marron, Jay Vile, Jen Williams, Katherine Simmons, Erica Martin, Jemma Vile, Justine Ridgway, Richard Preece, Jay Hebson, Ralph Jennings, Ron Van Heuvelen, Steve Teale, and Graham Jones.
Hastings Runners took the overall win in a time of 30:14 with Striders Senior Men completing the event in 35:12, Striders Vet Ladies in 40:14, Striders Vet Mixed in 42:17 and Striders Vet Men in 44:41. Striders Mixed Vet’s finished first in their category!
